Are grills allowed on the patios or decks?
Yes on patios, no on decks. Grills are not permitted on any wood porch or deck due to fire code.
Are the cottages equipped with high speed internet lines?
Yes, the cottages are wired for high speed internet and cable.
Do the cottages at The Retreat come with furniture?
While we have found that most people tend to prefer using their own furniture over the low-grade furniture offered by most apartment and townhouse communities, The Retreat will be offering a furnished option that will include complete high-quality living room and bedroom furniture.
Do the cottages have patios or porches?
Each cottage has either a patio or deck (depending on topography), and some cottages have large front porches or balconies as well.
Does The Retreat come furnished with appliances?
Yes. Each Retreat cottage comes furnished with every standard appliance: refrigerator with ice-maker, dishwasher, range/oven, microwave, and a full size washer and dryer.
How far is it from The Retreat to the Penn State College campus?
The site is located at 300 Waupelani Drive and is approximately 1.2 miles from downtown, 1.5 miles from campus.
How many bathrooms are in the student cottages?
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom. Some 2, 4 and 5 bedroom cottages also have an extra 1/2 bath. 
How many bedrooms are in the student cottages?
The Retreat offers 18 different floor plans with 2, 3, 4, and 5 bedrooms.
How many parking spaces are provided?
Each bedroom is guaranteed 1 parking space and there are an additional 70 visitor parking spaces located throughout the property.
How many square feet are in each cottage?
The cottages range in size from approximately 1396 square feet (3 BR/3 BA) to approximately 2189 square feet (5 BR/5 BA). See the dimension sheet for detailed measurements.
How often does the Catabus run?
There are three "R" routes that run approximately every 15 minutes. All the bus stops are covered and services are available most days from 6:15 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. On Friday and Saturday, the last bus leaving downtown to The Retreat is available until 2:30 a.m.
How are roommates matched?
We have partnered with RoomSync to provide a modern matching platform where residents choose their own roommates. After you complete the leasing process you will be emailed a link to join our RoomSync network. You will then log in to RoomSync using Facebook, create a matching profile, and begin your search to find your new best friend - or roommate for starters. If you already have a roommate in mind, you can confirm your roommate request within RoomSync.
How are rooms assigned?
Residents who already have preferred roommates can confirm their roommate match requests using RoomSync, our roommate matching platform. If they do not already have a roommate, residents will search for and choose their own roommate using RoomSync. Residents will be able to communicate with each other during and after the selection process. In the event that potential roommates discover that they are no longer compatible, they can request a different roommate and we will do our best to accommodate any change request. To provide sufficient time and the greatest opportunity for residents to find the perfect roommate, they should apply and sign a lease as early as possible.
If I am over 21, do I need a guarantor?

Yes. All leases are required to have a guarantor. If an approved guarantor cannot be obtainted, EdR Management, Inc. will accept a security deposit of one (1) month's rent.

When is rent due?
Rent is due on the 1st of every month and is late after 10 a.m. on the 3rd day. You can bring your rent check to the clubhouse or pay online using our online Pay Online option.
What does my rent include?
Your monthly rent includes high speed internet, basic cable, pest control, valet trash, curb side recycling, lawn maintenance, and access to all of The Retreat's amenities at no additional charge.
Are pets allowed at The Retreat?
Yes, most of our cottages allow pets, although an additional security deposit and cleaning fee may apply.
What kind of amenities does The Retreat offer?
The Retreat offers a huge resort-style pool, hot tub, beach volleyball, bocce ball, grilling pavilion, & walking path; a 16,000 square ft clubhouse with a full size basketball court, computer lab, fitness & strength centers, racquetball court, salon & spa, tanning beds, sauna, PGA approved golf simulator, billiards, social & study rooms; private yards, porches & patios, and free shuttle service that runs from The Retreat to downtown Thursday- Saturday 10:00 pm to 3:00 am!
What type of on-site security does The Retreat provide?
The Retreat offers video-recorded surveillance, on-site management and on-site security (10pm - 3am every night). In addition, the cottages are wired for alarm systems with additional monitoring service available upon request and at the resident's cost. For our tenants' convenience, The Retreat also issues electronic key fobs to each resident, which allow for a keying system similar to a hotel's in which each resident has one key that can be used to access his or her cottage as well as community amenities like the clubhouse and pool. This system allows residents to enjoy The Retreat amenities 24 hours a day.
